Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started separate dry waste management with the aim of reducing the amount of waste taken to Bancharedanda. For this, the metropolis has started separate dry waste management from 10 wards. Sarita Rai, head of the city's environmental management department, informed that with the start of dry waste management, about 3.19 metric tons less waste is going to the landfill site from the valley every day.

The metropolis has classified the metropolis into 7 zones to sell dry waste generated along with domestic waste from all 32 wards and has entered into an annual revenue contract of 68.72 million including tax through separate competitions, she said.

Currently, dry waste management has been started from wards-7, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 27 of the metropolis. Each area has one solid waste transfer center and a dry waste management center.

According to the income contract procedure 2079, Nepsemac Sewa Pvt. Ltd. has been selected from the competitors for area number 1. Ward numbers 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 fall in this area.

Practical Waste Solution Pvt. Ltd. has been selected in area number 2. Ward numbers 1, 11, 28, 29 and 30 fall in this area. Creative Sarasafai Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded an annual income contract of Rs. 55 lakh 35 thousand 891 in area number 3. Ward numbers 6, 8 and 9 fall in this area.

Mechi Poly Industry has awarded Rs. 15 lakh 4 thousand 404 in area number 4. Ward numbers 16, 17 and 26 fall in this area. Wards 13, 14 and 15 have been designated as area number 5. Nepal Energy Development Company has taken responsibility for the area. Wards 10, 31 and 32 have been designated as area number 6. Poly Waste Management has been given responsibility for this area.
