The District Administration Office, Bhaktapur has started monitoring cooking gas. The administration has intensified the monitoring after consumers complained that they were not getting gas even though Nepal Oil Corporation was supplying it regularly in the market.
A joint monitoring team led by the Bhaktapur Industry and Commerce Office, Bhaktapur Cottage and Small Industries Association, National Consumer Interest Forum and Federation of Journalists, Bhaktapur, monitored gas depots and retail centers in Byasi, Kamalbinayak, Jagati and Suryabinayak in Bhaktapur.
During the monitoring, the District Administration Office stated that although most of the depots were receiving regular gas, there was a shortage in the market due to high demand. Bhagwat Prasad Regmi, Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office, said that the shortage in the market was due to consumers keeping gas reserves. According to him, the consumers were afraid of gas shortage due to the conflict in the Gulf countries, and therefore, the shortage was caused by keeping stocks.
