A technical team from the Central Zoo in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, rescued a leopard from the store of Machhapuchhre School in Kusunti Heights, Lalitpur on Tuesday morning.
The team rescued the leopard by using a 'dart' with the joint assistance of Satdobato Police, District Forest Office Lalitpur, and Lalitpur Metropolitan Police.
The estimated 10-year-old leopard weighing 60 kg was kept at the zoo's wildlife hospital for treatment, informed the head of the Central Zoo, Satyanarayan Sah. He said that after treatment, the leopard will be released in its natural habitat.
The zoo has rescued 241 wild animals, birds, and mammals in the past one year. Out of which, 57 wild animals, birds, and mammals were treated and released in their natural habitat. The zoo currently has more than 1,300 wild animals of 115 species.
