Police arrested two people on Friday and made them public on charges of defrauding them of Rs 3.1 million by promising to send them to Croatia and Greece for employment.

The arrested persons are Upasana Bhandari, 43, a resident of Panauti Municipality-12 in Kavrepalanchok and currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8, and Yubaraj Kunwar, 23, a resident of Tikapur Municipality-1 in Kailali and currently residing in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-11, informed Superintendent of Police of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office Manohar Prasad Bhatta.

The police arrested both of them based on a complaint that Bhandari had absconded after taking Rs. 1.2 million and Kunwar had taken Rs. 1.9 million, claiming to be sending them to Croatia. They were arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31 and sent to the Foreign Employment Department in Tahachal today for further investigation and necessary action, Superintendent of Police Bhatta said.
