At the annual festival of the Rafat Sanchar Club organized in Bhaktapur today, Chairman Bijukchhen said that journalists should be able to speak the truth in the interest of the country and that if the journalism sector deviates from its duty, it will be detrimental to the country and the people.
In the program, he recalled that he was once a journalist and had to endure police lathicharge while reporting. He said, 'Journalists should not hesitate to speak and write the truth. If they deviate from this duty, it will be detrimental to the country and the people.'
He said that if journalists fulfill their duty honestly, society will be excited and society can be strengthened. Chairman Bijukchhen mentioned that if journalists move forward with study, their duty to society will be fulfilled. He narrated an incident in which journalists informed the world about the Russian Revolution and the effects of the atomic bomb dropped in World War II.
