Police have arrested a man on charges of setting fire to Singha Durbar and inciting others to set fire to it during the Gen-G protest.

According to the police, 36-year-old Mahendra Gautam, a resident of Khairhani Municipality-9, Chitwan and currently residing in Anamnagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-29, has been arrested. 

He is accused of inciting the crowd during the protest, inciting arson and engaging in criminal nuisance-related activities. The police arrested him to investigate the same offense, informed SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Information Officer of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

The police said that they have produced Gautam before the Kathmandu District Court and obtained a five-day extension of his remand under the criminal nuisance offense and have moved forward with the investigation.
