Kathmandu Metropolitan City Police will be patrolling the Bagmati River, which flows through various areas of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and taking action against those who litter on the banks of the river from next Saturday.

This information was given by Ward Chairman Hiralal Tandukar, who participated in the meeting of Bagmati Cleanup Campaigners held in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11 in Thapathali. The group has been running a cleanliness campaign in Bagmati and other rivers and streams of the valley and public places, the ring road, places from east to west, mountains, hills, and Terai of Nepal for 13 years. Campaigner Kishore Singh Shahi said that the campaign has changed the thinking of the common citizen.

The meeting emphasized the need to classify waste and manage it scientifically in the form of stamps. The cleanliness campaigners of the Cleanup Maha Abhiyan and the valley say that attention should be paid to this as the implementing bodies have ignored it even though the rules and regulations related to waste management have been made. It has been mentioned that the empowered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee should take necessary steps in this direction.
