To make traffic management in the Kathmandu Valley more effective, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has taken control of nine night buses that were parking indiscriminately and obstructing traffic movement.

Nine buses were seized during a special inspection campaign conducted at various locations in the Kathmandu Valley today, said Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and Superintendent of Police. He said, "It has been seen that the route permits of some of the buses we seized have expired by two years. We will take further steps in this regard in coordination with the Department of Transport Management." The seized buses are currently being kept at the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshahpath. The traffic police have stated that the buses unnecessarily jammed the road and created an uncomfortable situation for passengers and other vehicles. The buses, which were operating long-distance night services, were seized after they were found to be parking illegally on the road instead of reaching their designated destinations as per the route permits, said Nawaraj Adhikari, Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and Senior Superintendent of Police.

'Violating the route permit and parking in an unorganized manner was seriously affecting the traffic movement,' he said, 'The buses taken under control will be taken into action according to Section 75 and Section 160 of the Transport Management Act, 2049.' On Wednesday alone, the traffic police had taken control of 15 long-distance night buses that were parked indiscriminately.
