Community schools in Kathmandu Metropolitan City join integrated attendance system

What you should know

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has developed its own integrated attendance system for the daily attendance of community school teachers, staff, and students.

The Department of Education and the Department of Information Technology have developed their own systems and connected community schools to an integrated system.

All schools have been provided with 'user names' and 'passwords'. Similarly, the names of teachers and employees of Jankalyan Secondary School, Tangal Secondary School, Geeta Mata Secondary School, Gyanoday Secondary School, Tarun Secondary School, Ratna Rajya Secondary School, Padmodaya Secondary School, Janpath Secondary School and Vishwa Niketan Secondary School have been 'data entry' and 'face reading'.

Keshav Prasad Gyawali, Acting Chief of the Education Department, informed that the process of entering student data and face reading is underway. The internal human resources of KMC have worked for the said system. This has started reducing the dependency on KMC's system development. After the system development, training has been provided to the employees working in the school's accounting and administration to operate the attendance system.  The schools will be responsible for data entry, updating and report preparation through the training. However, its real-time information can be monitored from the central system of KMC. Anirudra Nepal, head of the Information Technology Department, said, 'The development of KMC's own system is the biggest achievement. Now we don't have to look to consultants for services.'

After entering the data in the system, there is a plan to connect it to the Sub-National Treasury Regulatory Application (SUTRA), said Information Technology Officer Engineer Madhav Khanal.

This system will also have a personal profile. In which students will be able to see their details themselves. KMC has also informed that it will be developed to send information about students' absence to their parents.
