Thapa Magar arrested for impersonating a police officer and defrauding others

The arrested person has been identified as Deepak Thapa Magar, 40, a native of Likhu Rural Municipality-1, Nuwakot, and currently residing in Nepaltar, Tarakeswor Municipality-8, Kathmandu, informed Kaushal Kumar Budhathoki, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Thapa Magar arrested for impersonating a police officer and defrauding others

Police have arrested a man on Tuesday and made him public on charges of defrauding him by promising to release Dafuri Sherpa, alias Dawa, who was arrested in a hundi-related case.

The arrested person is 40-year-old Deepak Thapa Magar, a resident of Likhu Rural Municipality-1, Nuwakot, and currently residing in Nepaltar, Tarakeswor Municipality-8, Kathmandu, informed District Police Range Kathmandu Deputy Superintendent of Police Kaushal Kumar Budhathoki.

He said, "He was arrested on the charge of cheating Dafuri Sherpa's mother, who was arrested on Magh 15 in a hundi transaction case involving the Nepal government as the plaintiff and Dafuri Sherpa as the defendant, by saying that he was a police officer and that he would release Dafuri if he gave her Rs 500,000."

He was arrested from Banyantar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and further investigation is underway after obtaining a five-day extension of his remand from the Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Budhathoki said.
