The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection, which has been conducting regular market monitoring and inspections, has fined three firms.
After complaints were found during the inspection, the department fined Pokharel Traders Rs 15,000, Sulabh Kirana and Food Suppliers Rs 10,000, and Shital Food Store Lalitpur Rs 5,000. The department stated that the fine was imposed on the firms as a form of action for not acting in accordance with Section 15 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS.
Similarly, Chia Katero Pvt. Ltd. has been directed to appear before the department within three days with business-related documents. The department has given corrective instructions to 10 other firms.
The department has been conducting regular market inspections in the presence of local administration and consumer rights activists to organize the market and implement the law.
