Police have arrested a prisoner who was convicted in a rape case and escaped while serving his prison sentence.
Sabin Rumba, 24, a resident of Kailash Rural Municipality-10 in Makawanpur and residing in Chuchepati, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, was arrested by the police on Tuesday (today) from Chuchepati.
The arrested Rumba was produced again at the Jagannath Dewal Prison Office, Sundhara, after completing the necessary procedures, informed Senior Superintendent of Police Shiva Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
He had been serving his sentence at the Jagannath Dewal Prison Office, Sundhara, since 21 Baisakh 2079 BS after being sentenced to 25 years in prison in a rape case.
He had escaped from the prison during the Gen-G movement. Since then, he has been living in hiding in the Kathmandu Valley, according to the CIB.
