A clash has broken out between juvenile correctional officers at the juvenile correctional home in Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur. Eight juvenile correctional officers were injured in the clash that began on Thursday night, informed Surya Bahadur Khadka, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bhaktapur.

He said that some policemen were also injured in the clash that broke out inside the juvenile detention center from 9:45 pm on Thursday night. Seven of the injured have been discharged after treatment at the Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital, while one is still undergoing treatment, according to the police.

There are about 75 people over the age of 18 in the juvenile detention center, which houses 169 juvenile detainees. According to the police, the clash started among them. Some juvenile detainees beat and injured them, vandalized the juvenile detention center, and set it on fire.

The fire was brought under control using fire engines on Thursday night. Police said that when the police tried to control the clash, stones were also thrown from inside the juvenile detention center. Police Chief Khadka said that more than 200 policemen have now surrounded the juvenile detention center from outside, fearing that juvenile detainees might escape from the juvenile detention center. 

After a while, Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed that the Human Rights Commission will also monitor the juvenile detention center.
