Mayor Balendra Shah has called on everyone to join hands in finding and preserving endangered languages and scripts.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has said that everyone's cooperation and coordination is necessary to preserve endangered languages, scripts, art, and culture.
At the 'Hang Yalambar Smriti' award ceremony held in Kathmandu, Chief Shah mentioned that the scripts of some languages have been lost, and some languages have disappeared, and called on everyone to join hands in finding and preserving such disappearing languages and scripts.
At the award ceremony organized by Kirat Rai Yayokka on the occasion of Kirat Yalambar Sambat 5086, he expressed the view that each community should preserve the languages associated with its art, culture, values, and identity.
Stating that there are different castes, communities, and civilizations across the country, Chief Shah said that it is a common responsibility to preserve and promote all of them. 'Preserving our language, art, and culture is not just about protecting the identity of an individual but also the identity of the entire country,' he said, 'If you are preserving your language, you are also preserving the country.'
