Police have arrested a young man on charges of demanding money in the name of protest at The British College.

The District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested Bivek Dhakal from Anamnagar area on Saturday. Dhakal, 28, who is a permanent resident of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality-4, Kavrepalanchok district and currently lives in Jorpati, is also an alumnus of the college, said SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Information Officer of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Bhattarai said that Dhakal was arrested after the college administration complained that he had demanded money from the college and threatened to close the college if it was not paid.

Students were admitted to the British International College, which is affiliated to Keel University, with the assurance that they would be given internships abroad, but there had been protests for a few months, saying that there was no such arrangement.
