Two young policemen have been caught pretending to be fake police officers and extorting money. Police have arrested Nanibabu Lama, 37, of Sindhupalchowk, and Prakash Tamang, 34, of Dolakha, who were searching a drug store and extorting money by pretending to be police officers deployed from the Narcotics Bureau of the Nepal Police.

A team deployed from Police Circle Boudha arrested them from a drug store in Gokarneshwor Municipality-6, the District Police Range, Kathmandu, has said. They are being investigated after obtaining a six-day extension from the Kathmandu District Court today, informed Kathmandu Police Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai. 

Meanwhile, the police have recovered customs-evading goods worth around Rs 1.497 million from Bafal. Various mobile phone accessories brought in by evading customs were recovered from a bus (Na 8 Kha 8495) coming from Dhangadhi to Kathmandu. 

The bus driver, Mahesh Chaudhary, 25, of Belauri Municipality-6, Kanchanpur, has been taken into custody. After further investigation by Police Circle Swayambhu, the arrested person and the goods have been handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office, Gauchar, Kathmandu Police has said.
