A team from the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Nepal Police has arrested three foreigners, including one, who were smuggling drugs by hiding them inside their stomachs.
One of the suspects had drugs removed from his stomach, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeevan Niraula, the bureau's assistant spokesperson. He said that three foreign nationals from an international gang involved in drug trafficking were arrested with cocaine while monitoring foreign nationals arriving in Nepal via air.
Based on information received from a special source, 40-year-old Thai national Rusani Kama, who had come to Kathmandu from Laos via Thailand, was found at a hotel in Sinamangal and 12 plastic-coated capsules of cocaine were recovered during a search.
Informing about the incident, Assistant Spokesperson Niraula said, 'During further investigation, 29 other capsules that he had swallowed and hidden in his stomach were also removed. The capsules were removed with the help of health workers at the hospital. The 41 plastic-coated capsules of drugs he had with him weigh 550 grams.'
Similarly, the police have also informed that 55-year-old Indian citizen Xavier, who had come to Kathmandu from Laos via Singapore, was arrested from the road in Sinamangal while being monitored. Another Indian citizen, 21-year-old Mursalin Hussain, who had come to receive the suitcase with him, was also arrested.
During the search of their belongings, three kilograms and 750 grams of cocaine were found hidden in a coffee packet inside the suitcase, said Assistant Spokesperson Niraula. The bureau has produced them in court on Thursday and has extended the investigation process.
