Man arrested for defrauding 5.2 million people by promising to send them to the UK

Police have arrested a man on charges of defrauding him of Rs 5.2 million on the pretext of sending him to the UK for foreign employment.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested 50-year-old Lal Bahadur Baraili, a resident of Pokhara Metropolitan City-15, Kaski, but currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12, according to the arrest report.

According to the office's spokesperson, Kazi Kumar Acharya, Baraili was arrested based on a complaint that he had taken Rs 5.2 million from a victim for employment, kept it for a long time, and then went missing without sending it to the UK.

Spokesperson Acharya said that the arrested Baraili has been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, for further investigation and necessary action. The police have urged everyone to be aware of the increasing number of frauds in the name of sending people abroad for employment.
