Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has said that the city aims to free 1,859 ropanis of public land from encroachment. Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Monday to mark the Metropolitan Day in Tundikhel, he said that the city aims to return the land worth Rs 200 billion.

Mayor Shah informed that since he was elected, he has returned 208 ropanis of public land worth 23 billion rupees. He expressed the hope that everyone will support the work of returning public land. He also informed that the metropolis has completed an infrastructure project worth 2.86 billion rupees. He said that 55 roads have been improved and high-mast lights have been installed at 62 intersections under the dust-free program. 

‘Since we came to Kathmandu Metropolitan City, we have returned more than 208 ropanis of public land worth 23 billion rupees. Our goal is to make 1,859 ropanis of land worth about 200 billion rupees free from encroachment. We expect everyone to support and cooperate in this work,’ he said. 

Mayor Shah also informed that the metropolis is working to reduce current expenses and increase capital expenses. He said that the metropolis is working to improve the environment, dust-free roads, waste management, and build a well-organized and bright city with special priority.
