Two prisoners who escaped from Jagannath Dewal Prison Office in Sundhara, taking advantage of the protest on Bhadra 24, have been arrested.

A team of the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Geeta Lama, 44, of Dhading, who is serving a prison sentence in a murder case, and Mangal Maharjan, 33, of Kathmandu, who is serving a prison sentence in a gold customs fraud case, on Monday.

Lama was arrested from Dhobighat, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-3, and Maharjan from Dhobichaur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-17, informed the Bureau's Senior Superintendent of Police Shiva Kumar Shrestha.

Lama had escaped from Jagannath Dewal (Women's Prison). Sentenced to 22 years in prison, she was sent to prison on Mangsir 19, 2076.

Maharjan, who was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of Rs 18,39,747.50, had been serving his prison sentence since last Chaitra. Both prisoners have been sent to Jagannath Dewal Prison Office.
