Police have so far arrested 17 of the 20 inmates who escaped from the Sanothimi Juvenile Correctional Facility in Bhaktapur on Sunday.
On Bhadra 23 and 24, 20 juvenile prisoners broke the gate of the juvenile correctional home and escaped after breaking the gate, demanding that they be allowed to leave.
Thimika Police Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Dhungana informed that 17 of the escapees were arrested from various places on Sunday and today. He said that the search for the remaining three is also ongoing.
Since the police are not allowed to enter the juvenile correctional home and the police do not have internal security arrangements, clashes and escapes have occurred between the prisoners before. The police started searching for them outside the correctional home only after receiving news that the prisoners had escaped, Dhungana said.
