Police have arrested two Indian nationals involved in kidnapping and hostage-taking. A team from the District Police Range has arrested 24-year-old Parampreet Singh and 28-year-old Lovepreet Singh from Punjab, India, for kidnapping and hostage-taking.
The spokesperson of the premises, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, informed that they were arrested based on information that they had taken 26-year-old Ankit Kumar from Haryana, India, hostage in Kathmandu by deceiving him and sending him to Australia via Nepal.
The police said that they were arrested on Friday based on information that they had taken both of them hostage in room no. 6 of Hotel New Jomsom in Sundhara and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 million from the victim.
The spokesperson Bhattarai said that the investigation is underway after the District Court in Kathmandu extended their remand for seven days. Four mobile phones of different companies have also been recovered from their possession.
