Nepal Police have arrested two Indian nationals involved in kidnapping and hostage-taking.
A team from the District Police Range has arrested 24-year-old Parampreet Singh and 28-year-old Lovepreet Singh from Punjab, India, for the crime of kidnapping and holding hostage.
The range spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, said that they were arrested based on information that they had tricked 26-year-old Ankit Kumar from Haryana, India, into bringing him to Kathmandu on the pretext of sending him to Australia via Nepal.
The police said that they were arrested on Friday based on information that they had taken him hostage in room no. 6 of Hotel New Jomsom in Sundhara and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 million from the victim.
The Kathmandu District Court has extended the remand for seven days and is investigating, said Spokesperson Bhattarai. Four mobile phones of different companies have also been recovered from their possession.
