Nepal Police have arrested 122 escaped prisoners from Kathmandu who escaped from various prisons during the Genji protest on Bhadra 10.
A team under the Kathmandu District Police Range, the Valley Crime Investigation Office and Soma have arrested 122 prisoners who escaped from the prison using the opportunity of the protest.
Of those arrested, 35 are for theft, three for polygamy, 17 for rape, three for manslaughter, 30 for drug trafficking, three for banking offences, 12 for murder, and three for organized crime.
Similarly, three have been arrested for robbery, three for vehicle theft, six for murder, one for human trafficking and three for other cases, informed Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, Chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range. According to him, 112 men and 10 women are among the arrested.
Senior Superintendent of Police Thapa said that a search is underway for the prisoners who escaped from the prison using the opportunity of the protest. He also urged the police to report any sightings of escaped prisoners from various prisons in their community and neighborhood.
The police have requested that if they have any information about the residence of unidentified or new people or the presence of escaped prisoners or prisoners in their vicinity, they should contact the nearest police office or Nepal Police hotline 100.
