Kathmandu Metropolitan City is going to sterilize community dogs and cats in the city in the financial year 2082/83.

The Metropolitan Municipality has called for applications from organizations interested in vaccinating dogs and cats against rabies.

The Metropolitan Municipality has requested to contact the Agriculture and Livestock Department of the metropolis and submit an application within 15 days.

According to Dr. Pooja Khanal, Veterinarian of the Metropolitan Municipality's Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department, the organization that wants to submit an application must submit a copy of its statute and registration certificate, a certificate of being listed in the current list of Kampa, a certificate of working experience related to dog and cat neutering, a veterinarian's certificate, a vehicle used for transporting animals, proof of having a shelter and a neutering room, a contract letter if rented, and documents related to the arrangement of materials required for neutering. .  Dr. Khanal, a veterinarian, informed that after evaluating the infrastructure to provide the services submitted by the

organizations, the contract will be made with the final selected organizations. According to him, there will be regular monitoring on whether the selected organizations have performed the work properly or not. Every year, the Metropolitan Municipality has been providing sterilization services for community dogs and cats and vaccination against rabies. 

In the fiscal year 2080/81, 5,500 dogs and cats were sterilized and 16,000 were vaccinated against rabies, informed Dr. Khanal, a veterinarian. He said that in the financial year 2081/82, 670 castrations and 16,569 vaccinations against rabies were carried out.
