Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Balendra Shah has emphasized that the Metropolitan Police should work in cooperation and coordination between the security organizations of the state.

In a program organized here today on the occasion of the 33rd Metropolitan Police Day, he requested the city police to actively follow and implement laws, policies and regulations.

Chief Shah said, 'I appreciate the role played by the Metropolitan Police in removing encroachments in the metropolis, protecting public property and maintaining good governance and order.'

Deputy Chief Sunita Dangol directed the Metropolitan Police Force to work in the interest of the people and the organization, not individuals. She said, 'Metropolitan Police should work as a good representative of the organization, which is always with the people in the joys and sorrows of citizens, processions and festivals.'

Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police, Tek Bahadur Tamang, said that the work of removing unauthorized structures, obstructions and encroachments on the road is being done in a result-oriented manner in collaboration with the Nepal Police and the Metropolitan Police Force.

Raju Pandey, chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force, said that they are removing unauthorized structures, managing disasters and vehicles within the metropolitan city.

The Metropolitan Police Force has been controlling smoking in public places, removing quadrupeds left on the road, removing untidy houses, disaster and sewage management, market monitoring. On the occasion of the Foundation Day, the Metropolitan Police also carried out the cleaning of Swayambhunath and Vasantpur Darbar areas and also planted trees in various places within the Metropolitan Municipality.

Metropolitan Police Force established on 14 August 2050 currently employs 362 people. The police force said that last year, 20 thousand 734 owners of vehicles who violated the rules and 397 people who threw garbage in other than designated places were punished. The metropolis has received Rs. 3.56 million from the action.

 On that occasion, this year's 'Metropolitan Police Pride' award was given to City Police Senior Inspector Lakshmi Maharjan, while 'Best Metropolitan Police Award' was given to constable Balkrishna Karki and 'Metropolitan Police Award' was given to constables Vijay Tamang and Maniram Khanal, constables and police constable Phillipi Saru Magar.
