Kathmandu Metropolitan City has imposed a fine of two lakh rupees on the owner of 'Dharahara Tapri Masham' located in Sundhara after it was found to have violated food hygiene standards.
Nurnidhi Neupane, Head of Agriculture and Food Department of the Metropolitan Municipality informed that a metal ring was found in the food prepared for sale and distribution by the owner of Dharahara Tapri Masham during regular monitoring by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. He said that it was found that the owner of Dharahara Tapri Masham violated the instructions of the Metropolitan Corporation and did not maintain food hygiene and quality.
"After errors were found during the market monitoring, fines have been set according to Sections 10, 29 and 30 910 'B' of the Market Management and Monitoring Act, 2077", Chief Neupane said.
The metropolis has instructed the owner of the said business to deposit the fine amount through the bank within seven days and to appear at the office of Kampa with the information. In addition, it has asked the businessmen to arrange production and sales distribution arrangements so that food hygiene and standards are met in the future.
