The Police Head Office has issued a circular to police offices across the country not to publish photos and videos of people arrested in any incident or crime.
The Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police Vinod Ghimire informed that the police head office has issued a circular to police units across the country not to publish or send pictures and videos of the arrested persons during press conferences or when giving any information.
Spokesperson Ghimire informed that a circular has been issued to all subordinate units based on the instructions given by the Attorney General's office to the police headquarters not to publish photos and videos.
The Attorney General's office has already made the decision. After sending the information of the same decision to the police headquarters, the police issued a circular for immediate implementation.
spokesperson Ghimire said that if there is a state and social impact of not publishing such photos and videos of heinous crimes, they can be made public with the permission of the relevant agency.
