A child died after drowning in frozen water in a ditch in Kirtipur Municipality-6 Chobhar of Kathmandu on Sunday. The deceased was identified as 11-year-old Vivesh Tamang of Dolakha House, Kuleshwar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, spokesperson of District Police Complex Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Apilraj Bohra informed.
Tamang, who was seriously injured after drowning while swimming in the hole, died during treatment at Kirtipur Hospital. The police are conducting necessary investigations regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 62-year-old Bhim Prasad Niraula, who lives in Mahalakshmi Municipality-8 of Lalitpur and lives in Mahakali Municipality-4 of Darchula, the absconding defendant in the banking crime case. On February 12, 2081, an arrest warrant was obtained from the District Court of Kathmandu and he was absconding.
Niraula has been sent to Police Circle Baneshwar for necessary investigation and action, the police said.
