The Suryabinayak Nagar Hospital operating at Suryabinayak Municipality-8 Jagatichoke has been expanded to 50 beds by the Ministry of Health of the Bagmati Province Government.
The hospital, which started with 10 beds in 2077 when Provincial Health Minister Kiran Thapa was the then ward chairman of the same ward, expanded to 50 beds on Wednesday when he was the health minister.
Minister Thapa said about this, 'Corona epidemic was a bad situation, I was the ward president, UML leader Mahesh Basnet was an MP. The current head of the municipality was Vasudev Thapa, with the determination and support of all of us, we started the service by constructing a hospital building on 25 ropani land of the Government of Nepal. Four years later, when I was the health minister, I am happy to expand it to 50 beds.'
He said that there is a plan to develop Suryavinayak Nagar Hospital as a trauma center with specialist services. Minister Thapa informed that since Jagati is the last point of entry to Kathmandu from the eastern districts, the work has been progressed to develop this hospital as a trauma center for the purpose of treating the injured in accidents on the highway.
'The ministry manages additional manpower, equipment and budget as needed. It is necessary to develop and expand this hospital, which is connected to the Arani highway, so that not only patients from Bhaktapur but from the east do not have to go to Kathmandu. We are proceeding accordingly,' he said.
Suryavinayak Municipality Spokesman and Ward Chairman of Ward No. 7 Ravindra Sapkota said that the surgery room has been operational with the approval of the provincial government and the municipality's budget management and that the municipality will manage it without budget for quality service.
