The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has released the 'Kathmandu Metropolitan Air Quality Monitoring Dashboard' to view the data provided by the air pollution measurement devices installed within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City area.
The dashboard was released on Thursday on the occasion of World Environment Day. Sita Rai, Head of Kampa Environment Management Department, informed that PM 2.5 and air quality index details can be viewed in real time from the dash board installed in 18 different places in Kampa area.
It is possible to get information about the air quality condition in which place, this is one of the efforts started for the healthy city of Kampa, says Chief Rai.
The state of air quality is indicated by six different colors. In which green color is an indication of good condition . Yellow color is medium, orange color is a sensitive condition for children, senior citizens, people with lung problems, heart disease etc. Red color indicates unhealthy condition . This is an unhealthy situation for everyone. Especially sensitive people should avoid it .
The blue color is indicated to be serious to the health of all persons. A similar dark brown color is a dangerous condition. It can have a serious impact on the health of all people. Especially for those who already have problems, it can have more impact .
Kampa Health Department Head Deepak Kumar KC says, "The data obtained from the Dash Board will provide a basis for formulating policies, budgets and programs to solve urban public health problems."
A health warning notice board will be placed with color indication of air quality index . There is a place on the board to put public awareness video messages about air pollution. From this, the progress details of the vehicle pollution check can be viewed .
Kshetrapati Hospital, Lainchour, Kalanki Chowk, Balaju Baisdhara Udyan, Parapkar Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital, Thapathali, Metropolitan Police Force Regional Office New Bus Park have installed air pollution measuring devices.
