More than 3500 people have applied for the skill fair to be started by Kathmandu Metropolitan City from 7th May. The metropolis has informed that 3576 people have applied online till Sunday for the training related to 42 professions in 10 different fields which will be conducted for 30 days.
The metropolis has added training related to 8 professions for the skill fair. 12 have been made by adding to the 5 professions selected earlier in the ICT sector. Added occupations include Cyber Security, Multimedia, .NET, Java, PHP and Graphics Design.
In this field, there was a preparation for 5 types of training including digital marketing, drones, robotics, fiber optics technician, artificial intelligence (AI) and its use (AI and its application). Similarly, the profession of wigs (making fake hair) has increased in the field of beauty. It had 4 professions namely beautician, make-up and hair, nail technician, and barber.
Areas have not been added to the training related to 34 occupations in 10 areas prepared earlier. After the addition of 8 occupations, the number of occupations for which training has been conducted has reached 42. Engineer Shailendra Jha, coordinator of the implementation committee, informed that the classes were added after the demand of the employers.
Metropolis is going to conduct free training in collaboration with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector and donor agencies. This year, the metropolis has informed that the goal is to provide free training to 2082 people. Nepali citizens in the age group of 18 to 58 years will be made to participate in the training. 100 hours of training will be conducted by conducting 6 classes daily.
