Disaster Journalism Network has completed 'Disaster Preparedness Discussion and Interaction Program'.

On Tuesday, a discussion on the role of three levels of government in disaster mitigation was organized at the office of the District Coordination Committee, Kathmandu. In the program, Amika Rajthala, president of the network, said that due to natural disasters in Nepal, rural areas are severely affected. She said that the Chepang community is facing more problems due to climate change in Raksirang Rural Municipality of Makwanpur. She said, "Because there is no road where the people of Chepang community live, they have to walk along the dry river during winter," she said, "What methods should be adopted to avoid lightning?" The locals of that area still don't know about that.'  

Similarly, Shanti Pandey, Deputy Head of the District Coordination Committee, said that they are always moving towards risk reduction by coordinating with each municipality. "In order to specialize disaster journalism, it is necessary for the federal government, state government and local governments to pay attention to enhancing the capacity of journalists," she said.

Superintendent of Police Apilraj Bohra mentioned that there was a loss of Rs. He also said that the citizens of Kapan, Teku, Thapathali and other squatter areas are more affected during the rainy season.  Early warning system, local disaster and climate resilience planning, inclusive disaster risk reduction were discussed in the

program. Speakers in the program emphasized the need to make a strong news strategy for before and after the disaster.
