Today, the 2,569th Buddha Jayanti is being celebrated in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, in Buddhist stupas, viharas and monasteries across the country with various programs including worship.
Swayambhunath area, which is listed in the world heritage list, has been crowded by Buddhist pilgrims and ordinary people since this morning. On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, a special puja will be held today at the Swayambhu Mahachaitya Buddha Temple.

Buddha's Astudhatu is kept for public viewing only on the day of Buddha Jayanti. A public Buddhist meeting is organized in the afternoon. It is said that there will be various worship, blood donation and prasad distribution programs in Swayambhunath area.
