Sadar Zoo located at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur will be operated from New Year 2082 till 8 pm. In a program organized by the zoo today, Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri informed that it has been decided to operate the zoo from Baisakh 1 till 8 pm as per the demand of the people.
"For that, the necessary preparations and procedures have already been made by the board of the National Nature Conservation Fund," he said.
zoo currently operates from 10 am to 5 pm.
While inaugurating the Falcha and infant breastfeeding room inside the zoo, Minister Shahi mentioned that connecting the zoo complex with nature and wildlife as well as culture and tradition is a positive aspect. He also said that as this zoo is narrow, necessary work is being done for expansion as per the provision of open zoo in Suryavinayak.
Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality Chief Chiribabu Maharjan said that the zoo is the jewel of Lalitpur and asked everyone to join hands in its development. He said that after he became the chief, he focused on the revival and protection of the encroached, destroyed, buried cultural heritage in Lalitpur.
Director General of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department, Ramchandra Kandel, said that the zoo is preparing to bring more rare wild animals from home and abroad and the department is coordinating the necessary. Naresh Subedi, member secretary of
fund, said that with the aim of connecting nature and culture together, the temple of the clan deity of the local community and the falcha were built inside the zoo. He informed that initiatives are being taken to bring lions and zebras to the zoo according to the wishes of the customers.
