A street festival will be held on Friday and Saturday at Kumaripati-Jawlakhel in Lalitpur. To promote local art and culture, Kumaripati Jawalakhel Development Organization and Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality organized the festival with the support of Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ward President of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-4 Santosh Khadka informed that the festival is going to be organized in Kumaripati-Jawlakhel section after nine years for the protection of local art and culture as well as for tourism promotion. 

'The festival jointly organized by Mahanagar and Kumaripati Jawalakhel Development Organization will start from Etitol in Lalitpur,' he said, 'We have started preparations by coordinating with all the wards of Lalitpur to make the festival a success, we believe that this festival will provide more support in the preservation of local products and art culture and promotion of tourism.' Birendra Shakya, the coordinator of the road festival, informed that since all the preparations for the

festival have been completed, it will be inaugurated tomorrow at 1 o'clock in the afternoon under the chief hospitality of Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama. According to him, the stage of the festival will be held at Etitol in Lalitpur. He also said that the chariot wheels of Rato Macchindranath and other idols related to Rato Macchindranath, Salik will also be put on display. 

On Friday and Saturday, Kumaripati-Javalakhel section will be completely closed, Shakya said that national and international dishes and costumes of different races will be displayed on the right and left side of the road. He said, 'There will be cultural programs according to different castes at the road festival and musical performances have also been arranged from 3 pm.'

It is estimated that more than five lakh spectators will watch the two-day festival, according to the organizing committee of the festival. Coordinator Shakya informed that arrangements have been made for vehicle parking in Jawalakhel-Kumaripati and Lagnekhal areas along with security arrangements for the successful completion of the festival. The organizing committee said that the festival, which was conducted for the first time in 2071, was successful, so it is going to be held for the second time for two days.
