On the day of Mahashivratri, 75 people were arrested from Pashupati area today

Police arrested 75 people from Aradhyadev Pashupatinath temple premises on Wednesday, the day of Mahashivratri. Apilraj Bohra, spokesperson and Superintendent of Police of Kathmandu District Police Complex, informed that 75 people have been arrested for rioting and unwanted activities in Pashupatinath area.

He said, 'On the day of Mahashiratri, we have arrested 75 people who were rioting and doing unwanted activities by eating forbidden food in Pashupati.'  

Police said that some of the arrested have been kept in the Police Circle Gaushala and some have been kept in the District Police Complex Kathmandu. Today on the day of Mahashivratri, 4,200 policemen have been mobilized in the Pashupatinath temple area under the command of the Superintendent of Police, according to District Police Complex Kathmandu. Thousands of devotees have gathered since early morning for the darshan of Pashupatinath. Revathiraman Adhikari, spokesperson of Pashupati Area Development Fund, informed that for the convenience of the devotees, all the four gates of Pashutinath have been opened by the development fund from 2 am and arrangements have been made to allow the devotees to have darshan for at least 10 minutes.
