On the occasion of Mahashivratri, more than five lakh devotees visit Pashupatinath, Pashupati Development Fund said. "This time we expect about 5 lakh pilgrims to come inside the temple", said Subash Chandra Joshi, Executive Director of Pashupati Development Fund, "Also, the fund has estimated that around 5 lakh people will visit the temple (Gajur) from outside."

According to Joshi, the temple will be opened from 2 pm on Tuesday on the occasion of Shivratri. On the day of Shivratri, the temple will remain open until the crowd of pilgrims is over and 5 Bhattas including the original Bhatta will remain in the temple.

Similarly, based on the four doors of the Pashupati temple, four lines have been arranged to enter the temple from outside. By making those four lines into 10 auxiliary lines inside the temple, each devotee will get 2 seconds of darshan. "So that the general public does not have to spend a lot of time in the queue, the four lines entering the temple from the outside have been made into 10 branch lines and taken out from all the four doors of the temple for 2/2 seconds," Narayan Subedi, treasurer of the fund, told Kantipur.

In the past, the pass distributed on Shivratri was misused and this time the fund canceled the pass. A help desk has been set up at the treasury office in Vankali to take VVIP and VIP visitors inside the Pashupati temple. The VIP guests will get to visit the temple in conjunction with Joshi, executive director of the fund. Similarly, the fund will provide facilities for elderly and disabled people to go to the temple directly from the help desk in Vankali. According to the fund, volunteers and security personnel will help the elderly and disabled people standing in the line.

fund has allocated one and a half crore budget for Shivratri this time. According to the fund, the money will be spent on painting the Pashupati temple premises, feeding the saints, managing firewood/mudha for the Dhuni, etc. Sadhusant has been placed in 7 places namely Nirmal Akhada, Annapurna Akhada, Bhashmeshwar Akhada, Vishwarupa Akhada. Catering has been arranged for them at those places at the expense of the fund.

Kosh has a practice of giving 'Bidai Dakshina' on behalf of the Kosh and Guthi Sansthan when bidding farewell to the sadhusant who came on Shivratri. It is customary for both institutions to pay equal amounts. According to Sushila Sharma, head of Guthi Sansthan office in Pashupati, the sadhus who come to Pashupati on Shivratri are divided into four types namely Mahant, Mathadhish, Naga and Aghori. Based on that, she told Sharma that they will be given farewell dakshina on Thursday.
