Preparations to provide 'many' facilities to devotees who come to Pashupatinath on Mahashivratri

Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey has said that more and more facilities will be provided for devotees coming to Pashupati area on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Speaking to the media after observing the preparations being made on the occasion of Mahashivratri in Pashupati area this morning, he said that work is still being done to provide facilities for the devotees who come to Pashupatinath temple from different parts of the world for darshan.

Minister Pandey, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said that as work is still going on in various places of Pashupati area, including the laying of water pipes, it will be uncomfortable for the devotees who come on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

He emphasized that for the preparation of Mahashivratri, the support of various social organizations and individuals is also needed along with the government agencies. Minister Pandey observed the Mahashivratri preparation work being done at Vankali, Bhubaneswari, Ghat area, Ram Mandir, Mrigasthali, Vishwarup and other places of Pashupati region.

Minister Pandey instructed the fund employees to complete the work before Mahashivratri as it seems that it will take time to complete some work. Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, member secretary of the fund, treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi, members of the fund management council and others informed him about the preparations being made on the occasion of Mahashivratri. 

A 201-member original ceremony committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Minister Pandey for the preparation of Mahashivratri. Member Secretary Thapa told that Mahashivratri is being prepared by forming nine thematic sub-committees under the main ceremony committee. 

The main event committee and sub-committee are speeding up the preparations, the fund said. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, the arrival of sadhusant has already started in Pashupati area. Swargadwari Ashram and others have started providing accommodation, food and heating to the sadhusant who came to Pashupati area.

According to the fund, it is estimated that many devotees will visit Pashupatinath on Mahashivratri after continuing the Mahakumbh darshan in Prayag, India this year. For the devotees who come to visit Pashupatinath, Kosh, Guthi Sansthan, various ashrams in Pashupati area have made arrangements for accommodation, food and heating. After the end of Mahashivratri, it is a tradition since ancient times that the foundation and Sansthan bid farewell to the Sadhusant with Dakshina.
