The Suryavinayak-Dhulikhel road construction project under the Araniko Highway has prepared to close the road for five hours daily for construction.  From 24th December 2079, the road expansion project started simultaneously in two sections from Jagati in Bhaktapur to Sanga and from Sanga in Kavrepalanchok to Dhulikhel under Arani Highway.

The mayors of Bhaktapur and Kavrepalanchok have requested the project to speed up the construction work at the junction of Bhaktapur-Dhulikhel road. After the project made a proposal to the mayors of Bhaktapur Kavrepalanchok to close the road for five hours daily for road construction, the mayors rejected this proposal.

City leaders say that blocking the highway during the afternoon will cause problems for the public, so they should find an alternative. Chief of Bhaktapur Municipality Sunil Prajapati said that during the expansion of the Arani highway, it is not appropriate to block traffic during the day. He said that it would be appropriate to do the

construction work at night time, and he said that during the construction of the road, there should be an on-site study on alternative roads and discussions should be held before demolishing the towers around the highway without compensation. In the discussion with the

project, Vasudev Thapa, the head of Suryabinayak Municipality, expressed his displeasure over the slow progress of the project and said that it should be completed on time as Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel is a project of national pride. He said that the road should be partially closed only after on-site inspection so that the people do not face any problem.

Ashok Kumar Byanju, head of Dhulikhel Municipality, said that the builders who work on road construction should do so that the people do not face any problems. He emphasized that the construction business or the road department should do the necessary arrangements for road maintenance and alternative roads.

Jeevan Khatri, the head of Changunarayan municipality, stressed that preparations should be made for road construction work during the night time. For the extension of 7.5 km of Suryabinayak Dhulikhel road, the work has been started with a total of 3 billion 88 million contract.
