Dolma Maya Go, vice president of Lalitpur's Mahankal Rural Municipality, has been honored with the 'International Women's Leadership Award'. Vice President Gole was awarded the honor at a special ceremony organized by The International Award Forum USA in New Delhi, India.
According to the rural municipality, the honor was given to Vice President Gole for his contribution to the creation of policy plans, programs and budgets to solve the problems of women, children and senior citizens, as well as the protection of agriculture, environment and religious culture.
The organizing organization mentioned that Vice President Gole was honored for his active role in searching, rescuing and distributing relief to the citizens affected by the floods after the incessant rains of the second week of last October. 13 people were killed, one person went missing and 300 families were displaced in Mahankal rural municipality alone due to the flood caused by the rain.
The organization has been honoring people who do excellent work in the field of social service in the South Asian region in six different categories every year. This year Vice President Gole received the Women's Leadership Award from Nepal.
