Testing of the new pipeline laid for water supply in Kathmandu Valley has been completed. With the re-distribution of Melamchi water, the Project Implementation Directorate (PID) started testing the pipeline.
Head of Directorate Tika Bahadur Chaudhary informed that the testing of 980 kilometers of pipelines of 33 water distribution networks laid under Melamchi sub-project-2 has been completed.
The ownership of 14 of the 33 more water distribution networks that have been completed has been transferred to the Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board, but now the transfer process of the remaining 19 has been moved forward, said Chandrakumarpan Shrestha, Deputy Director of the Directorate.
He said, 'Out of total 33 water distribution networks, four in the first phase and 10 in the second phase, 350 kilometers of pipelines of 14 water distribution networks have been tested and handed over to the board. The transfer process of the remaining 19 of the third phase has progressed.
It is said that the primary pipelines of the water distribution network, 33 water distribution networks have a total of one thousand and ten kilometers of pipelines. It is said that 60,831 new meters have been installed so far in the pipeline that is distributing water through the network.
