Drinking Water Minister Pradeep Yadav has said that the Ministry is taking initiatives to prepare an environment to provide pure and clean drinking water to the people of Kathmandu for twelve months.
In the discussion held today with the employees and officials of the Ministry, Minister Yadav stressed that work should be done to provide clean drinking water to Melamchi in Kathmandu valley round the clock.
'Let's proceed with the work in a manner that feels civil, there will be necessary support and coordination from the ministry, unfinished work should be completed rapidly,' he said, 'Kathmandu residents should get pure and clean drinking water for twelve months, let's prepare the environment accordingly.'
Minister Yadav instructed the officials of the ministry to take necessary steps to implement the agreement reached between the Helambu residents of Sindhupalchok and the struggle committee there and the ministry regarding bringing drinking water from Melamchi to Kathmandu valley.
He said, 'It is our responsibility to solve the problems of the citizens, at the time of bringing Melamchi water to Kathmandu, necessary steps should be taken to implement the agreements made in the past with the citizens of Helambu.'
Minister Yadav said that distribution of clean, clean water to the people is the first priority of the ministry and mentioned that the ministry is working in a planned manner for this. He also said that he is working with the related ministries and other related agencies as per the need.
Minister Yadav directed to bring Dhobighat waste water treatment center in Lalitpur, which was damaged by the flood since October 11, into operation as soon as possible. He has directed the subordinate agencies including the Project Implementation Directorate of the Valley Water Supply Limited to repair the center which was damaged due to flood and bring it into operation as soon as possible.
He said, 'Let's repair the leaking drinking water pipes, let's put the urgently needed Dhobighat waste water treatment center into operation as soon as possible.' Minister Yadav urged all the subordinate agencies to solve the problem by immediately deploying manpower to the places where water supply problems have arisen. He said, 'where there are complaints about the water problem, we should immediately mobilize more manpower and solve the problem.'
Rajendra Bahadur Bam, Head of Administration of Project Implementation Directorate (PID) of Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Limited, informed that the construction of processing center at Dhobighat in Lalitpur has reached its final stage and is ready to be handed over.
He said, 'The processing center under construction at Dhobighat was in the final stage and was preparing to be handed over. The flood that occurred in October caused damage to structures and equipment, and now there is a problem.'
