The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has said that it is not allowed to place lights on tree plants which adversely affect the life cycle of birds.
With the issuance of the 'Wave Light Management Standards, 2081' by the metropolis, no wave lights are allowed to be used on tree saplings in public and private property within the metropolis.
The metropolis has implemented this standard because of the negative impact on human health, vehicular safety, life cycle of birds and archaeological and cultural heritage if the wave lights are placed inside the metropolitan area for urban beauty. But in public places It is mentioned in the standards that permission should be obtained from the environment department of the metropolis if the wave lights are to be used. In addition to
, during Jatras, festivals and special occasions, the wave lights can be installed only for seven days . Permission is not required for this. But its quality is determined by the standard . For this, a minimum six watt LED light should be installed, the installed light should not emit harmful radiation and the color temperature should be 2700 to 3500K.
The metropolis will also monitor it . If it is found that the standards are violated during the monitoring, the head of the monitoring team will be penalized and fined according to the Annual Economic Act and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Environment and Natural Resources Protection Act, 2077.
