For the upcoming local level by-elections, 20 candidates have been nominated for the post of mayor of Kirtipur municipality. According to Election Officer Indira Karki, 20 people including eight major parties and 12 independents have registered their candidacies by 5:00 pm.

Krishanman Dangol, chairman of the party's Kirtipur town, has registered his candidacy for the main post from the ruling Nepali Congress. Surendra Manandhar, a central member of the party from the ruling partner Nepal Communist Party (UML), registered his candidacy.

Vinod Maharjan and Arjun Kumar Maharjan have registered independent candidacy for ward president. In Ward No. 4, 13 candidates including major parties have been nominated.
