The small customs office in Thori, Parsa has started giving free entry to Indian tourists by issuing a free entry receipt. This has brought Thori's tourism business, which had been sluggish for four days, back to normal.
A team of employees including Hriday Narayan Sah, accountant of Birgunj Customs Office, reached Thori small customs office on Tuesday and started this service. Sah informed that now a deputy subba and an office assistant are regularly staying at this customs.
Dhirsingh Ghimire, a hotelier in Thori, said that this decision of the Nepal government has given them a lot of relief. He said that more than one billion rupees have been invested in Thori's tourism business and the hotel business here, which depends on Indian tourists, has slowed down in a situation where the entry of Indians is uncomfortable.
Now Indian tourists coming to Thori will be able to move around the four-five kilometer area around Thori without any restrictions.
