Siraha Police have taken a drug dealer under control by firing. On Sunday evening, police from Lagadigoth in Siraha Municipality-21 took control of 28-year-old Chhotu alias Ranjit Kumar Paswan, a resident of Padmaha Gram Panchayat-2, Madhubani District, India, and a minor from the same place under control by firing.
The bullet fired by the police hit Chhotu in the groin. A joint police team of the District Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Golbazar branch, under the command of Chief Police Inspector Bishal Malla of the Area Police Office, Maheshpur Patar, took control of the drug dealer group.
When they tried to arrest Chhotu, he pelted stones at the police and tried to flee towards India. In the process, the police fired one round of air fire and one round of bullets. Police constable Hriday Narayan Thakur, working in Maheshpur Patar, was also injured in the stone pelting.
Both of them are undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Siraha and their health condition is normal, informed the Chief Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Siraha, Basudev Pathak. According to Pathak, apart from plastic, 92 grams and 30 milligrams of brown sugar have also been recovered from their possession.
Chotu, who was taken into custody after being shot, is a notorious drug dealer, and most of the drug users arrested by various police offices in the district have been buying from him, said SP Pathak. Initial police investigations have revealed that Chotu has sold 10 to 12 kg of brown sugar worth Rs 30 million so far.
According to Pathak, he and his group have been dealing in drugs in an organized manner, and they mostly use minors for sale and distribution. He said that a detailed investigation is underway in this matter.
