In Madhesh Province, 16 percent of children are suffering from malnutrition . The Directorate of Health, Madhesh Province, had assessed the health status of 283,308 children in a nutrition assessment conducted in 133 out of 136 local levels. Of which, 35,883 are malnourished, 8,771 are acutely malnourished, and 233,182 are in normal condition.

About 29 percent of children are born in Madhesh Province and about 22 percent of the total population of Nepal lives in Madhesh Province.
