The Birgunj Branch Office of the Drug Management Department has sealed 16 firms and fined one chemical industry in the month of Baisakh.
According to the branch chief Shambhu Sah, the office staff had monitored 95 firms including industries and shops in Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Sindhuli and Parsa districts throughout the month of Baisakh. He said that necessary information was also sought from 29 drug shops during the monitoring. Similarly, notices have been pasted to the businessmen who closed their shops during the monitoring.
In addition, the Birgunj Branch Office of the Drug Management Department has filed a case against two companies for manufacturing and distributing drugs without a license. In this regard, the branch has also filed a case against a person for improper use and sale of drugs.
According to Branch Chief Sah, a case has been filed against Shanti Chemical and Packaging Industries Birgunj-15 Bhediahi and Wave Chemical Industries Birgunj-24 Ramgadhawa in the Parsa District Court. The legal action has been taken after both companies continued to manufacture, sell and distribute medicines without a license.
Similarly, a case has been filed against Roshan Kumal, a resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan. A case has been filed against him in the Chitwan District Court. Sah said that the case was filed against Kumal after it was found that he was using and misusing medicines improperly.
