Birgunj Metropolitan City has started monitoring massage and spa centers operating within the city.

The metropolis has launched the campaign since Tuesday after complaints of unwanted activities being carried out in the name of massage centers increased. According to Hari Bhusal, the monitoring that started from the customs area will be expanded to all 32 wards of the metropolis. The city police have been mobilized in coordination with the Nepal Police for the monitoring.

The monitoring team is checking the details of the operators and employees, whether or not minors are used. In addition, special attention has been paid to the issues of operating permits, registration, tax payment status, nature of service operation and compliance with the code of conduct, informed Bhusal, the city police in-charge.

A warning has been given that strict action will be taken if minors are found to be used. Minors have been found to be used in two spa centers monitored so far.

Bhusal also informed that on-site monitoring of more than a dozen massage and spa centers has been completed so far. During the initial monitoring, it was found that the required documents were incomplete in some places and the operating procedures were not as per the standards.

The metropolis has warned that legal action will be taken against businessmen who do not meet the standards and engage in illegal activities. The metropolis has stated that it will continue such monitoring in the coming days and take initiatives to make the business organized, transparent and dignified.
